Hello, I have searched to Internet for direction on how to do this but all of the directions say 'downlaod and use it'. The directions are very basic. Cab anyone provide me with more specific instructions (i.e. How to start it, creating the disk image, etc.) BTW I'm running Mac OS X Mavietkc s with Ubuntu in VirtualBox. Any help will be much appreciated
  • Are you trying to install Mac OS X 10.1 on a PC or are you trying to install a Pear OS on a pc?
  • I am trying to install OSX 10.1 on Ubuntu via PearPC.
  • I am usually the first to criticize the validity of any *.tripod.com links, but I did a quick Google search on your question, and this looks like it might be what you're after, sort of:
    http://pearpcguide.tripod.com/
  • Thank you Kirk, but that is for windows.
If anyone has done it, maybe you could help?
  • BTW I'm running Mac OS X Mavietkc s with Ubuntu in VirtualBox.
I am trying to install OSX 10.1 on Ubuntu via PearPC.

Are you trying to install PearPC inside the Ubuntu VM running on OS X 10.9 to run OS X 10.1? If so, that sounds incredibly painful... surely there's a better way.
  • Thank you Kirk, but that is for windows.
But since PearPC is an emulator, I would think the instructions would be fairly transferable?
Don't know for sure, not an expert on PearPC, and I don't really have any interest in anything Mac OS related.

Yeah, I was just going to leave that alone... but since you said something... the way I would go about it is:
Run PearPC inside a Ubuntu VM inside VirtualBox running on Windows Vista inside of Microsoft VirtualPC running on Windows 8 in a VMWare VM on ESXi. Stability is important.
  • No, the steps for windows don't work on linux. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be so hard to do this. I did install PearPC on my Ubuntu computer, but I can't get PearPC to boot from the disk image. Any idea on how to do that
  • Hello, i found out how to do it using these links:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_8688913_compile ... buntu.html
    http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/config.html
Now i just need an empty 6 GB ISO image. Does anyone have one?

Empty ISO? Like 6GB of 0's?
  • IronCraftMan

You don't need to ask. You just make the ISO file with an ISO maker. Such as this one:http://www.freeisocreator.com/
  • Thansk for the website. But now I have a new issue. When I try to boot into the install ISO, it just shows the happy mac face and in terminal says: '[IO/CUDA] Event processing timed out. Event Dropped.' What does this mean? Is my configuration incorrect or is this a pearpc problem?

To be honest I have never done this type of stuff before. Also your welcome for the link.

I found you a video for you. All though it's for tiger (aka. mac 10.2) and you want to install puma (aka. mac 10.1). But it's a tutorial and I hope this is some help to you.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdDNIRcsWE8
  • Tiger is 10.4, not 10.2.
Oh. My bad, what do I know I;m a windows guy not a mac guy. But it could still help him. Right?
  • I installed Puma just fine by following the steps in the video.
Tiger... not so much. The install seemed to go fine, but when I tried to boot off the HD image, PearPC gave me an error about the disk not being bootable.

As a side note, if you want networking support, you'll have to install TAP-Win32: http://www.openhip.org/wiki/index.php?t ... n32_driver
I don't know if it works because I wasn't able to boot Tiger.
